The Congress Party under 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency has decided to remain in animated suspension till further notice. This decision has been taken by the Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) parent body and the rank and file of the party.

As part of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observed conducted detailed reviews and consultations with party functionaries and stakeholders across all districts. Following this process, the AICC appointed Imkongyanger as President of the District Congress Committee Mokokchung (DCC, Mokokchung district) on March 30, 2026.

However, instead of allowing him to assume charge, the party without assigning reason or formally revoking the earlier appointment appointed I Temsu Jamir as President DCC, Mokokchung on July 4, 2026. This arbitrary decision is not only a direct insult to Imkongyanger but also to the entire party workers of 28 Koridang ACCC, the party said.

“We believe this action reflects blatant high-handedness, favoritism and complete disregard for dedicated long-standing party workers. It has deeply demoralized grassroot workers who have remained loyal to the Congress through thick and thin times,” it stated.

The 28 Koridang ACCC said it is betrayed by the actions of the Congress high command and asserted that the voice of the people and the sentiments of the party workers should be taken into account while selecting an important party leader like the President of the DCC, Mokokchung.

It informed that the ACCC had submitted an official letter, in the form of a memorandum, to the NPCC President on July 20 2026.

The 28 Koridang ACCC asked the Congress Party to understand the political dynamic in Mokokchung and the 28 Koridang ACCC, so that the prospects of the Congress party in the 2028 election can be bright.

It cautioned that if an amicable solution to this issue cannot be arrived it, it would be left with no option but to resign en-masse.
