The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite successfully organised its One District One Activity on July 25, with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and creating awareness about sustainable living through tree plantation and plastic-free practices.

As part of the initiative, the Club distributed 10 Lions-branded flower pots with saplings, each carrying a meaningful message to inspire care for nature.

Three renowned gynecologists from NIKOS Hospital—Dr Sunil Sharma, Dr Apeli Sukhalu, and Dr Benjongsangba Lemtur—received potted saplings to present to their patients, encouraging families to nurture both life and nature.

In a heartwarming gesture, a two-month-old baby was presented with a sapling, symbolising that as the child grows, the plant too would flourish alongside the child. Similarly, a newly married couple received a sapling as a symbol of love, care, and a greener future together.

The Club also distributed 200 saplings in the New Market area, motivating citizens to plant trees and actively contribute towards building a greener and healthier environment.

To further strengthen environmental awareness, members conducted a “Say No to Plastic – Use Cloth Bags” campaign, encouraging the public to reduce the use of single-use plastics and adopt eco-friendly alternatives for a cleaner and more sustainable future. It also distributed Lions Club branded clothe bags.

The project witnessed enthusiastic public participation and successfully spread awareness on environmental conservation through tree plantation, responsible waste management and sustainable living practices.

The programme was successfully organized under the leadership of Club President Lion Ritika Jain, with the dedicated support of Club Secretary Lion Sakshi Binaykia and Project Chairperson, Lion Priti Jain.
