Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO), Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, on Wednesday called upon citizens, village authorities and community leaders to extend full cooperation in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Photo Electoral Rolls, 2026, aimed at ensuring an accurate, complete and updated voters’ list.
The appeal was made during a meeting convened with members of Village Councils and Town Councils in connection with the revision exercise.
The meeting was attended by chairpersons of all Village and Town Councils under Dimapur-I, Dimapur-II and Dimapur-III Assembly Constituencies, along with one Gaon Bura (GB) from each area to discuss the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision programme.
In his opening remarks, Dr Chang informed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would undertake house-to-house visits from August 16 to September 14 to distribute and collect Enumeration Forms (EFs) in their respective polling station areas.
He urged electors to keep passport-size photographs ready, stating that these would be mandatory for smooth and timely verification during the exercise.

The DEO also appealed to Administrative Officers, Village Councils, Village Development Boards (VDBs), Gaon Buras, Colony Councils, Ward Authorities and other stakeholders to actively assist the BLOs, publicise the programme and encourage residents to remain available during the verification process.
Addressing the meeting, Assistant Election Officer Toshimongba Longchar outlined the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision.
He informed that the draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, following which claims and objections can be filed from September 20 to October 20. Hearings and disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 18, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 22. The qualifying date for the revision has been fixed as October 1, 2026.
Longchar further stated that electors with mapping issues, anomalies or discrepancies may be required to appear before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) with documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
