Advisor to the Chief Minister for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen has called upon the people of Khanimu village to strengthen unity, embrace collective responsibility and explore new economic opportunities to build a prosperous future for the village.
Mannen was speaking at the inauguration of the new Panchayat Hall at Khanimu village on August 8, where he highlighted the village’s favourable location and connectivity as key advantages that could drive economic growth and development.
He said development does not happen by chance but is achieved through unity, open dialogue, democratic decision-making and respect for both the collective will and individual voices.
“When we decide together, we move forward together,” he said.
The Advisor also stressed the need for communities to protect and maintain public assets created with government assistance, including roads, community halls, water sources, schools and health centres. Such facilities, he said, belong to the entire community and should be cared for with the same responsibility as private property.
He urged villagers to act as custodians of common resources by maintaining cleanliness, carrying out timely repairs and ensuring responsible use, warning that neglect or misuse of public assets ultimately affects every household.
Addressing the youth, Mannen said time is the most valuable resource and encouraged them not to remain dependent on increasingly limited government employment opportunities. Instead, he urged young people to acquire skills and explore self-employment, small enterprises, modern agriculture, animal husbandry, local crafts, tourism and service-based activities.
“Become positive contributors to society rather than passive seekers of limited and uncertain government jobs,” he said.

Highlighting Khanimu’s strategic location under the Asetkong Range, the Advisor said the village has considerable potential for development and expansion due to its road connectivity with Mokokchung town, the district headquarters and neighbouring areas of Assam.
He noted that improved connectivity could facilitate trade, business and market access, enabling goods and economic opportunities to move more efficiently.
To realise this potential, he called on residents to welcome young and progressive minds and support flexible land laws that can attract investment from various sectors.
“An environment of trust, clarity and fairness, would encourage entrepreneurs and external investors to see Khanimu as a place worth investing in”, he stated.
Concluding his speech, the Advisor said that transparent processes and community support were also essential to convert natural advantages into lasting progress and if the people act with unity, responsibility and foresight, Khanimu village will not only develop but set an example for the entire region.
Welcome address was delivered by Tongpang Aier, Chairman of Khanimu Village Council.
Short speeches were also delivered by N Temjen Aier, Chairman of Longjang Medemsanger Putu Menden, and Yapangla, Project Director, DRDA Mokokchung.
A song was presented by Lima Imchen, Choir Master of LBA. Closing remarks were made by Tsüpong Aier, Council Member of Khanimu, followed by the vote of thanks by S Imli Aier, Deacon of KBA.
