The Department of Art & Culture, in collaboration with the Home Department, has inaugurated the “Har Ghar Tiranga” Exhibition 2026 at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat as part of the nationwide campaign to commemorate India’s Independence.
The initiative calls upon citizens to bring the National Flag into their homes and hoist it with pride, while fostering a personal connection with the Tiranga as a symbol of national unity, integrity and collective commitment to nation-building.
This year’s campaign also coincides with the 150th anniversary of the National Song, “Vande Mataram”, adding a special dimension to the celebrations.
The inauguration was graced by Kuko Mero, IAS, Secretary, Home Department, as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, Mero said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was a national initiative aimed at showcasing the unity, strength and integrity of the country.
He highlighted that the Tiranga Exhibition forms an integral part of the broader Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 initiative, which will be accompanied by a series of commemorative activities in the coming days.
The programme was chaired by Temjenjungla, Assistant Archivist, Department of Art & Culture.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including Elizabeth Ngullie, Secretary, Home Department; Bodeno S Colo, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Art & Culture; Adela Moa, Director, Department of Art & Culture, besides officers and staff of the Art & Culture and Home departments.

The curated exhibition has been set up at Gate No. 1 of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, offering visitors an opportunity to explore historical displays and reconnect with the State’s rich heritage while reflecting on the significance of the National Flag.
Students, citizens and members of the public have been invited to visit the exhibition and participate in the celebrations.
As part of the public engagement initiative, dedicated photo booths have also been installed at two locations—the main exhibition venue at Gate No. 1, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, and the State Museum.
Visitors are encouraged to take photographs and selfies with the National Flag at the designated booths and upload them directly to the official Har Ghar Tiranga portal, thereby becoming part of the nationwide celebration.
The organisers said the initiative seeks to transform the campaign from a symbolic observance into a collective expression of patriotism, shared heritage and commitment to the nation.
