A meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Rolls 2026 was held on August 11 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. The meeting was attended by councillors of the Kohima Municipal Council, Village/Town/Colony Chairmen, Gaon Burahs (GBs) under Kohima Sadar, and representatives of the Kohima Village Youth Organisation and Kohima Village Students Union.

SDO (Civil) Seyiekhrietuo Solo said that SIR is an intensive initiative aimed at “cleaning” the electoral roll. He informed that the mapping percentage in Kohima Town was still very low and urged stakeholders to coordinate with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who will conduct door-to-door visits.

He appealed to the public to provide the required information to BLOs in a timely manner and not be reluctant to furnish the relevant details. He also informed that BLOs would explain the process and assist electors in filling up the required forms. Solo further said that in case BLOs miss any household or fail to visit, residents should approach the concerned authorities.

Officials also briefed stakeholders on the roles of BLOs and BLO Supervisors, submission of forms through the BLO App/ECINet, and the involvement of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs). It was clarified that no documents would be collected from electors during the enumeration phase.

House-to-house enumeration by BLOs in Nagaland will be conducted from August 16 to September 14, 2026, with the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on September 20. The period for filing claims and objections will continue till October 20, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 22, 2026.
