The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) commemorated Futsal Day on August 15 at the Koridang Futsal Ground, Aolijen, Ungma.
Delivering the welcome address and highlighting the significance of the day, MDFA President N. Akok Longkumer said that football is a sport loved by people across all sections of society. He noted that football has been actively promoted in Nagaland through year-round activities of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), along with futsal tournaments organised by various organisations across the state.
He stated that Futsal Day was being commemorated under the direction of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the NFA. Encouraging the young players, Longkumer urged them to remain dedicated and strive to take football to the next level, stating that committed participation in the sport would benefit them greatly.

He also expressed appreciation to the Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) for its continued assistance to the association over the years and appealed for its support to continue in the future.
The programme featured a U-15 kick-off futsal match between teams from Ungma and Merepkong Ward. An exhibition match was also played between the Mokokchung Press Club and the MDFA, in which MDFA emerged victorious with a 7–4 scoreline.
The MDFA team was led by President N Akok Longkumer and included Supongsang, Yimya Jamir, Bendangmongba, Lepzungchiba, Limasenla, Alapong, Nokzenpongba and Bendang. The MPC team comprised Naro Longchar, Ajung Kichu, Yarden, Imnawapang, Akangnungsang, Moasashi, Imrongkumba and Sashimeren.
