Dimapur 24/7 conducts HIV/AIDS awareness programme at Eden Higher Secondary School

Dimapur 24/7 Foundation, in collaboration with the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA), Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, conducted an HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme at Eden Higher Secondary School, Thilixu, on Tuesday.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Annie Jain, Chairperson, Dimapur 24/7, and was held on the theme “Awareness Today, Protection for Tomorrow.” More than 300 students attended the programme.

The awareness session was led by Orenthung Ngullie, District Programme Officer (DPO), DISHA, who spoke to the students about HIV transmission, prevention, testing and the importance of seeking correct information and support. He also addressed common misconceptions surrounding HIV/AIDS and stressed the need to prevent stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.

The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer segment, where students raised questions and sought clarification on various aspects of HIV/AIDS.

Dimapur 24/7 said providing young people with accurate information is important in helping them make informed and responsible choices and in building greater understanding around HIV/AIDS.

The organization expressed appreciation to Eden Higher Secondary School, DISHA and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, for their cooperation and support in conducting the programme.

Dimapur 24/7 stated that it would continue to undertake community-oriented initiatives aimed at promoting awareness, understanding and responsible choices on important social and public health issues.
