A six-day ‘Hindi New Writing Camp for non-Hindi speaking participants’ was inaugurated on August 31 at the auditorium of the Department of Hindi, Nagaland University. The camp is being jointly organized by the Central Hindi Directorate, Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi, and the Department of Hindi, Nagaland University.

The programme was conducted by Dr Vityolenou Lydia Dzüvichü. It commenced with the welcome address by Dr Munni Chaudhary, Head, Department of Hindi, Nagaland University. Thereafter, Nathulal, Assistant Director, Central Hindi Directorate, New Delhi, presented the objectives of the camp and outlined the programme schedule.

During the inaugural session, Rohit Singh, IAS, Director, Minority Affairs, Government of Nagaland, addressed the gathering as the Guest of Honour. Shri Dutt Tiwari, IAS, Secretary to the Governor and CEO, Meghalaya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The session was presided over by Prof Santosh Kumar Singh, Dean, School of Sciences, Nagaland University.

In their addresses, the dignitaries emphasized the need to promote the study, writing, and creative expression of Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking regions. The six-day camp is an important initiative aimed at encouraging participants interested in the Hindi language to engage in creative and innovative writing in Hindi.

Following the inaugural session, subject experts Umesh Tripathi, Dr Sunil Kumar Shaw, Dr Goma Sharma, Dr Tinku Chhetri and Dr Noor Jamal shared their insights and perspectives with the participants.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Brijesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Nagaland University, who is also the coordinator of the camp.
