The students of MDRC celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and reverence to honour the invaluable contributions of teachers and MDRC Coordinator on September 3 at MDRC Common Hall, Nagaland University.
The students invited the MDRC Coordinator along with all the faculty members of MDRC representing the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and Mathematics. All the faculty members graced the occasion with their presence.
The inaugural session started with a welcome speech by the first year and third year students highlighting the significance of Teachers’ Day and the role of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Students showcased their talents and affection through various performances including group songs, recitation of poems dedicated to teachers, and a short speech on the importance of teachers in shaping society and research.
The faculty members also actively participated and shared their experiences, blessings and words of wisdom. Some teachers presented songs, dance and shared memorable moments, which made the celebration more interactive and joyful. All the teachers were felicitated with a token of love and gratitude by the students as a mark of respect.

The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by a student of MDRC, expressing sincere gratitude to the MDRC Coordinator, all faculty members, and fellow students for making the event a grand success. The celebration ended with light refreshments and group photography.
Department of Chemistry, NU
The Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University hosted a vibrant celebration to mark Teachers’ Day, honoring the dedication and academic contributions of its faculty members. The event, held within the department premises on September 3, brought together students, research scholars, and professors for an afternoon of appreciation and cultural celebration.
The program was graced by the teachers including Head of the Department, Prof Ambrish Singh, who joined his colleagues in commemorating the occasion. The faculty present included Prof M Indira Devi, Prof Upasana Bora Sinha, Dr I Tovishe Phucho, Dr M Prabhakar, Dr NA Chaudhury, and Dr Seram Dushila Devi. Debojit Gogoi acted as the chairman of the program, while Imnajungla Longkumer, Imkongsen Imsong, Manthai C Phom, Mohen Singh, Nuphizo Shijoh and Akhala led the program from start to end.
The atmosphere was festive as PG students and research scholars organized a series of tributes for their mentors. The celebration featured an array of musical performances, ranging from soulful vocal renditions to instrumental sets, alongside energetic dance routines that highlighted the creative talents of the student body.
In their addresses, the faculty members expressed their gratitude to the students for organizing the event and emphasized the unique bond between teachers and students in the field of scientific research. The day served as a heartwarming reminder of the collaborative spirit that drives the department’s academic and scientific endeavors.
