MGM College accorded a warm welcome to Rev Fr Reji C Varghese, Diocese Education Officer, and Thomas Mathew at the college auditorium on September 4, bringing together the institution’s leadership, faculty, staff and students in a spirit of fellowship.
The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Diocese and MGM College and reaffirm the institution’s commitment to quality higher education, discipline, character formation and service to society.
The programme began with an invocation by Ahikali I. Jakha, Head of the Department of English, followed by a welcome address by Fr Shaiju Philip, Administrator. He welcomed the visiting dignitaries and expressed appreciation for their continued guidance and support. The guests were also felicitated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Rev Fr Reji C Varghese emphasised the role of education in shaping responsible, disciplined and value-driven citizens. He encouraged the MGM community to pursue academic excellence while giving equal importance to character, responsibility and service.

Thomas Mathew also addressed the gathering and shared insights with the faculty, staff and students, stressing their collective responsibility in building a strong academic institution and preparing young people to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Adding a cultural dimension to the programme, students presented a special number, “Kekhri,” showcasing the cultural heritage and artistic talent of the MGM College community.
The programme was chaired by N David Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of History. Principal Dr RK Behera delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the visiting dignitaries for their presence, guidance and encouragement. He also appreciated the Administrator, faculty, staff and students for their efforts in making the programme meaningful.
The programme concluded with a benediction by A Kailang Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, followed by a photo session.
