Konyak Union President, K Yamao Konyak graced the closing programme of the 48th Inter District and State Badminton Championship 2026 as special guest at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mon on 4th September 2026.
Addressing the gathering, the special guest said that sports are not only about competition and winning, but it’s about building relationships, developing friendships, and bringing people together. Through sports one gets an opportunity to meet new people, learn from one another, and explore new places and understand different communities and cultures. He encouraged the young participants to do their best to reach the higher levels, and not to limit themselves to the district or state level but to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals. He also urged to maintain discipline and stay away from harmful habits like alcohol and other substances to maintain good health.
The special guest also appeals to the state government to further improve sports infrastructure, training facilities, equipment and opportunities for young sportspersons. Sports have become a peaceful way to express the spirit of courage, strength and determination. He stated that the battlefield has been replaced by the games and sports and weapons have been replaced by pen and papers.
The programme was chaired by Manyei N, Assistant Professor, Wangkhao Government College, Mon. Invocation was pronounced by Rev Yeangphong, District Chaplain. Presidential Speech by Dr Watizulu Suzumeren, President Nagaland Badminton Association. Special Number by Hentok Konyak and a vote of thanks by Y Pongba Konyak, President MDBA & Co Convener Planning.
