Khuzama Police Station received telephonic information on September 7 regarding the recovery of an unidentified dead body from a downstream area within Khuzama Village.
Acting on the information, a police team proceeded to the location and recovered the body. Police said all necessary legal formalities were completed, including an identification process among members of the public. However, the identity of the deceased could not be established.
The body has since been shifted to the morgue for preservation and identification.

According to Kohima Police, the deceased is estimated to be 40–45 years old, with an approximate height of 5 feet to 5 feet 2 inches. The person was found wearing two finger rings and a necklace chain.
Kohima Police have appealed to the general public to assist in establishing the identity of the deceased.
