Nagaland’s Advisor for CAWD, Kudecho Khamo on Wednesday urged department officials to work and envision for the development of Chozuba so that the people can move forward in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

He was addressing a departmental coordination meeting held at Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall, Chozuba Town.

Khamo called for cohesive efforts among departments to work for the people and envision the future of Chozuba, which is connected by the National Highway. He said the town’s strategic location calls for planning with the future generations in mind.

He highlighted the progress being made in the area, noting that Chozuba Town was awarded the cleanest town under Phek district. He also appreciated the performance of the medical department and the efforts of the Chozuba Town Council in carrying out developmental activities.

Reiterating Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s statement during the 50th anniversary celebration of Phek as a most progressive district, Khamo called for introspection on the role of departments and individual officials. While acknowledging the contributions of officials, he stressed the need to serve the people diligently in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

He said the willingness of the government machinery and the public needs to be resolute in this endeavour and journey, stressing the need to strengthen the vision from the grassroots to achieve the larger goal.

Khamo said the government provides opportunities and resources for development and urged young people to venture into entrepreneurship. He called upon banks and financial institutions to work with the people, while urging the public to reciprocate with full cooperation.

He appealed to heads of offices and officials to work for the people and expressed his willingness to serve the people through collaboration. He called for a “servanthood attitude” among officials and encouraged them to strengthen one another in working for the people.

Khamo also pitched for financial institutions to organise a mela to create awareness and promote financial literacy among the people. He said the progress of the people should go hand in hand with the growth of banks.

He urged department officials to work and “leave footprints” even after they are posted or transferred, so that their contributions would be remembered.

Khamo also stressed the need to tap the potential and willingness of the Chakhesang people in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary sectors, highlighting the huge potential in the sector. He expressed delight that the people were also faring well in Agriculture and Horticulture.

He urged departments to adopt a village each for model projects and expressed his willingness to participate in such initiatives within a year.

He suggested organising regular social work, including a cleanliness drive in Chozuba once a month, to keep the town clean and hygienic.

He further pitched for organising a fair at Chozuba for MSMEs, SHGs and farmers to sell their products, while creating a platform for departments to conduct outreach and interact with citizens.

The meeting was chaired by Nengpichong Singsit, EAC Chetheba, while the introductory address was delivered by Zapuno Khatso, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Chozuba.

She said the meeting was an initiative of MLA and Advisor Kudecho Khamo with concern for the Chozuba Sub-division and the functioning of various departments, with the objective of improving coordination among them.

She said the meeting was intended to update participants on various programmes and projects being undertaken by departments and called for suggestions to improve their functioning and work for the people.

Sevonyi Keyho, Chairman of Chozuba Town Council (CTC), welcomed the newly posted officers and urged them to leave “footprints” through their service. He also commended and congratulated Dr Lolekhol on being honoured with the district-level Commendation Award.

Presentations on departmental activities were made by Velhupra Rhakho, BDO Sekruzu; Dr Lolekhol SMO Community Health Centre (CHC); Heinangwangbe Nsarngbe, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Chozuba; Lhuvezo Swuro, Sub-divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO); Lhukheto Shohe, Executive Officer, NKVIB; Kutholuzo Veswuh, Junior Engineer, R&B; Kiso, IA, IPR; Thong, CDPO, Social Welfare; PHED; Government Polytechnic Tsunazho Chetheba; SDEO; SBI Chozuba; Soil and Water Conservation; Forest Department, among others.

During the meeting, the house also expressed concern over the non-commencement of the Science stream at GHSS Chozuba despite an agreement in principle. It called upon the Department of School Education to start the stream from the next academic session.
