A collaboration between Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and UNIQLO to provide an opportunity for young people in Nagaland to experience UNIQLO has resulted in 41 young candidates being selected for retail positions with one of the world’s leading apparel brands.
The UNIQLO talent engagement initiative, facilitated in collaboration with IDAN, connected with more than 450 students from various colleges and institutes at the UNIQLO Xperience Day on August 21, followed by a Hiring Day held on September 11 that saw more than 130 registrations and over 90 candidates appearing for interviews.
The Xperience Day offered students an introduction to UNIQLO beyond its products, with interactive sessions, a company presentation and addresses by Yuichiro Kaneko, COO of UNIQLO India and Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN. Through the UNIQLO Xperience Zone, students explored LifeWear products, learned about the technology behind them and interacted with UNIQLO employees from the Northeast.

The event also introduced participants to UNIQLO’s Japanese work culture, work-life environment and workplace values, giving them a closer understanding of what it means to work with the brand. A giveaway session featuring UNIQLO merchandise added to the day’s engagement.
The interest generated at the Experience Day translated into strong participation in the recruitment process. More than 130 candidates registered for the Hiring Day, with over 90 appearing for interviews on September 11. Following the selection process, 41 candidates were selected to join UNIQLO’s retail team.
Through this collaboration initiative, IDAN & UNIQLO brought together brand experience and career opportunity, giving young people in Nagaland the chance to experience the company’s products and culture first-hand before taking the next step towards a career with the brand.
