The SDPDB Bhandari in its meeting held at the CHC, Bhandari on September 16, deliberated on improved water supply facility in the Community Health Centre, (CHC) Bhandari.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha NCS, who chaired the meeting welcomed new members and reviewed last meeting minutes.
Giving a power point presentation on performance status of Bhandari Medical Block covering 56 villages, and CHC Bhandari covering 7 villages, Dr. Lydia Medical Officer, Ayush, highlighted on the health services delivered as well as some aspects of challenges faced by the health sector during the current year.
Stating that CHC Bhandari is a First Referral Unit for the sub division with a huge rural populace, she stressed that the health centre needs to be equipped with adequate manpower, including specialists.
The house further reiterated on the immediate requirement to post a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to fill the place of the transferred officer.
Replacement of old water pipelines with improved facility and adequate water supply to the health centre was also discussed.
President, Lotha Lower Range Public Organization, (LLRPO) Dr Khonsao Alex, Retired Additional Director, Health and Family Welfare, stated that connectivity road for Longayim, Mekirang and Lio Longchum villages have been facing road hazards due to monsoon rains and other natural factors for which he proposed for a collective contribution from MLA and Advisor SCERT & Food Processing, Government of Nagaland, and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, and Bhandari based head of departments, to help repair the 5 kilometre stretch from Merapani, to a Jeepable road.
President Yanmhon Area Public Organization (YAPO) N. Thungdemo Tungoe, apprised the house on the current status of the Yanmhon area Police-Out-Post at Ruchan village.
In a representation letter, proposal was made for a temporary site allocation to the Police-Out-Post until a proper and permanent Post is established by the government of Nagaland.
He informed that a meeting in this regard was held between YAPO and Ruchan Village Council on 11th September 2026, and that logistical arrangement was available for the proposed temporary Police-Out-Post.

During review on power supply in the sub division JE Power Bhandari, Er. Mhaden Murry, , thanked the district administration Bhandari, the government departments and CSOs for their support to the power department’s initiatives to upscale infrastructures including installation of distributer transformers in different locations of Bhandari.
He also appealed for continuous public cooperation for unhindered jungle clearance activities in order to maintain free power lines.
Murry further emphasised on the need for additional manpower as well as lack of pool vehicle for working staff transportation purposes.
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) Check Post, Merapani, Dr. Kikali G. Sumi apprised the house that following pig mortality at Merapani village, swine tissue samples were sent to State ELISA Laboratory, Kohima on 2nd September 2026 for testing and that, samples were tested Positive (+ve) for African Swine Fever. (ASF)
Further informing that a number of 10 pigs were reportedly dead owing to ASF, she said farmers were sensitized on procedures of proper disposal and burial of carcasses to ensure prevention of further spread of the disease.
Lead Bank Manager, Wokha District, Chophathung Yanthan, highlighted on the current functions and status of the banks, deposits and advances, etc.
The house further deliberated on rationalization and feasibility aspects for upgradation of the existing power supply from 11KV to 33KV to Yanmhon area covering 20 villages.
ADC and Vice Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha gave a directive to YAPO public leaders to work closely with the concerned department and conduct land survey for the purpose of upgradation facility.
ADC also informed that the next SDPDB meeting would be held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari.
