The International Lions Club of Kohima has invited interested schools in Kohima to participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2026, scheduled to be held on October 3 at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.

The contest is open to children who would be 11, 12 or 13 years old as of November 15, 2026. Each participating school may nominate one student for the contest. Participants will be required to create a poster that visually communicates the theme: “Harmony in Humanity”.

The contest provides children with an opportunity to express their understanding and vision of peace through art. The 2026-27 theme encourages young people to imagine a world where people of different cultures and backgrounds live together peacefully, while promoting respect, kindness, understanding, tolerance and harmony.

Through the contest, the club seeks to encourage children to think about the importance of peace in everyday life and to use their creativity to promote a culture of kindness, respect and peaceful coexistence. Lions International describes the Peace Poster Contest as an opportunity for children to share what peace means to them through art and to inspire visions of a more peaceful world.

At the local level, the winning participant would be recognised by the Club and would receive a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. The winner would also receive an achievement award, while certificates of appreciation  would be presented to the winner and all participants.

Following the local contest, the winning poster would be forwarded for the next level of judging. The subsequent stages will be held at the district, multiple district and international levels.

At the international level, the International Grand Prize Winner would receive a trip to the award ceremony, where the winner would receive US$5,000 (or local equivalent) and an award. Two family members, including the winner’s parent or legal guardian, will also be invited to accompany the winner to the award ceremony. In addition, 23 Merit Award Winners would each receive US$500 (or local equivalent) and a certificate of achievement.

The Club encouraged all interested schools to participate and give their students an opportunity to express their vision of peace, showcase their creativity and contribute to spreading the message of harmony and peaceful coexistence through art.
