Peren conducts workshop on ‘Our Land Our Produce’

A workshop on “Our Land Our Produce improving Lives and Livelihood” was conducted under green Peren at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on September 18, organised by District Administration Peren in collaboration with SELCO foundation.

Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru, NCS in his keynote address, stated that SELCO is operating widely as a social enterprise providing sustainable solutions in rural India and the state as well in the district levels. Highlighting on the Green Peren the ‘our land our produce’, he encouraged the participants to identify livelihood challenges and work towards implementing sustainable solutions to alleviate poverty and improve access to sustainable livelihoods. DC also encouraged the participants to shoulder a greater responsibility and developed a clear vision for the future.

During the Technical Session, Rosie and Imran SELCO Foundation imparted the knowledge of our Land, our Produce improving lives & Livelihood in Peren district under green Peren. They stated that SELCO Foundation works towards alleviating poverty by improving a sustainable energy solution for underserved Communities.

Rosie stated that the SELCO foundation has 325 health Centre solar powered across various districts, including 16 health Centres in Peren district. The resource persons also highlighted key value chains and climate vulnerable energy constraints, post-harvest losses, limited processing and market Access.

The resource person emphasised that energy can serve as an enabler of livelihood and help address grassroots problem through an ecosystem-based approach.

They stated that SELCO foundation works to build ecosystems that enable the effective and efficient delivery and sustainability of solutions. They further highlighted the foundation’s efforts to create appropriate financing, training, linkages, and policy environments to support sustainable energy driven solutions that contribute to livelihoods, healthcare and overall wellbeing of the Poor.
