Lotha Youth Hoho organizes penalty shootout

The Lotha Youth Hoho (LYH) organised a penalty shootout on the theme “Shoot Goal, Not Drugs” at the Public Ground, Wokha, on September 19.

The S Lotha Team emerged as the winners, with Restoring FC securing the second position. Shancho of S Lotha Team was adjudged Best Goalkeeper, while Lipio Ezung of Restoring FC was named Best Shooter.

Kilo Secretary, NSCN/GPRN, Joseph Lotha, who attended the programme as special guest, said Wokha was among the districts seriously affected by drug abuse, with many youths falling victim to addiction. He appreciated the LYH’s efforts to combat drug abuse and assured his support for such initiatives. He also said rehabilitation facilities were being provided for those seeking to overcome addiction.

Joseph urged youths to use their energy and abilities positively and encouraged the LYH to continue its efforts in accordance with established law and order.

District Welfare Officer James Ezung, the theme speaker, urged participants to look beyond the one-day event and carry its message into their daily lives. He called on youths to choose positive company and use their knowledge, energy and capabilities to bring about positive changes in the district.

Speaking on the importance of sports, WDSA president and MSME (PCI) chairman, Yanrenthung Humtsoe said sports had received greater attention in recent years and urged participants to develop discipline, determination and team spirit.

A total of 80 male and female teams from different parts of the district participated in the penalty shootout.
