The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed deep concern over the tense situation and reported conflict between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities in Eastern Nagaland, appealing to both sides to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue and customary laws.
In a statement issued by its Press Bureau, the NPF said the two communities shared the same blood, history and struggle, describing any conflict between them as a wound inflicted on the entire Naga family.
The party, which said it had always stood for Naga unity and the preservation of tribal brotherhood, cautioned that violence would serve no purpose other than causing suffering to innocent villagers, creating insecurity in border areas and deepening divisions at a time when unity was crucial for the collective political future of the Nagas.

The NPF appealed to both the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities to to exercise utmost restraint, maintain peace and refrain from any act of violence or provocation.
It also urged the Yimkhiung Tribal Council and the Tikhir Tribal Council to immediately engage in dialogue through our time-tested customary laws and traditional wisdom.
.The party further called upon the district administrations of Shamator and Kiphire to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order, protect lives and property and facilitate a peaceful resolution.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, unity and brotherhood, the NPF stressed that dialogue, rather than confrontation, was the only way forward, urging the two communities to remain brothers rather than become adversaries.
