Nagaland University organised a Dedicated One-Day Event (DODE) under Special Campaign 6 on October 28, 2026, across its three campuses, focusing on cleanliness, efficient governance, digital transformation and citizen participation.

Special Campaign 6, an initiative of the Government of India, aims to reduce pendency by expediting public grievances, appeals, MP references, state government communications, inter-ministerial consultations and parliamentary assurances. It also promotes Swachhata through workplace cleanliness drives, decluttering of office spaces and proper disposal of scrap and electronic waste, alongside the review and closure of old physical files and the transition to e-office systems.

Activities across the university’s campuses included a lecture on health services offered by the University Health Centre, a ‘Best out of Waste’ competition, tree plantation, office space enhancement, disposal of e-waste and scrap, and digitisation of inventory management.

At the headquarters in Lumami, a formal programme was held with Yanrenthung Ezung, Controller of Examinations, Nagaland University, as the chief guest. The programme was chaired by Zajamo Yanthan, System Administrator, while the introductory note was delivered by Peter Ki, Public Relations Officer.

Nilito I. Achumi, Nursing Officer, Nagaland University, delivered a lecture on health services provided by the University Health Centre for students, staff and neighbouring villagers.

Health supplements were distributed to villagers, while prizes were presented to winners of the ‘Best out of Waste’ competition. The competition was judged by Dr. Lobeno Mozhui, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, and Dr. Vihieno Iralu, Assistant Professor, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, Nagaland University.

The competition featured two categories: Nagaland University staff and students, and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) students.

In the KV students’ category, Kaushik Kumar Naik secured first prize, followed by Subashree Nayak in second place and Soham Kumar Naik in third place. Kekhrineinuo Belho and Annagrace received consolation prizes.

In the Nagaland University staff and students’ category, Chongmanglila won first prize, Mhashevolu secured second place and Prince Thakur came third. Consolation prizes were awarded to Petekhrienuo Kulnu, Tonge WW, Sentienla and Shantitoli.

Addressing the gathering, Ezung thanked the participants in the ‘Waste to Wealth’ competition and the audience, particularly those who had travelled from distant places. He said their participation had contributed to the success of the programme, which focused on two important themes: citizen-centric health awareness and waste-to-wealth initiatives.

He encouraged students, staff and neighbouring residents to make optimal use of the health services available at the University Health Centre.

Highlighting cleanliness as one of the key objectives of Special Campaign 6, Ezung said Swachhata extended beyond maintaining clean offices, campuses, hostels and classrooms to encompass good governance and dedication to work.

For officers and staff, he said, good governance meant being responsive to the needs of students, teachers, colleagues and citizens, and ensuring that matters were dealt with promptly rather than left pending.

He also encouraged reducing paper consumption and adopting technology wherever possible, noting that scanned documents and email communications were often sufficient for official purposes.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Ashish Kumar, Hindi Officer, Nagaland University.
