The BJP 44 A/C Phomching has reaffirmed its faith and confidence in the leadership of K. Konngam Konyak, MLA and Advisor to the Government of Nagaland, following the widely reported resignations of four individuals from Sheanghah Chingnyu village expressing support for Y. Nockyam Wangnao, who intends to contest the forthcoming general election.
In a statement signed by its general secretary, Nyeipha Konyak, and president, Noksham, the BJP 44 A/C Phomching said it had taken note of the reported resignations of Aloh Ngowang, Chief Angh of Sheanghah Chingnyu, N Chingpai, Gangnan and Noktai.
While respecting individual political choices, the constituency unit firmly reaffirmed its confidence in K. Konngam Konyak’s leadership.
The BJP stated that 44 A/C Phomching under Mon district had witnessed significant developmental activities since 2023, reflecting continued efforts towards public welfare and constituency development. The party unit also clarified that, according to its available organisational records, the four individuals did not appear to have active enrolment in the BJP. It said their statements should therefore be viewed in the appropriate organisational context and not be construed as representing the collective position of the party or the entire Sheanghah Chingnyu village.
Expressing concern over the possible political implications of the statements, the BJP said they could create an unwarranted negative impression of the sitting MLA and Advisor. It maintained that political differences should not overshadow the developmental progress and welfare of the constituency.
Reiterating its commitment to organisational unity, discipline and grassroots development, the BJP 44 A/C Phomching stated that it would continue to support K. Konngam Konyak and focus on serving the people and advancing the overall development of the constituency.
