District Magistrate of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a strict order directing all building construction firms, agencies, and individuals operating within the Kohima District to immediately secure their construction sites.
The official order, dated 29 October 2026, reiterates the mandatory enforcement of a previous directive (Order No. DCK/REV/MISC-14/2025/401 B, dated 21 November 2025). Under these regulations, all active construction zones must be properly enclosed using perimeter hoarding, debris netting, scaffold shrink-wrap, Monarflex sheeting, or other approved equivalent protection measures.
According to the administration, these steps are vital for safeguarding public health, ensuring pedestrian and workers’ safety, and minimizing environmental pollution caused by dust and airborne debris.
The District Magistrate warned that any non-compliance or failure to implement these containment measures will attract strict legal penalties under the relevant provisions of the law. This directive serves as a final reminder to all builders and contractors in the district to align their operations with public safety standards immediately.

Kohima DM orders removal of redundant overhead cables, pipes
In a strict move to clear urban clutter and ensure public safety, the District Magistrate of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has issued a decisive order enforcing the immediate removal of all redundant overhead infrastructure across the district.
The official directive, dated October 29, 2026, serves as a final warning to telecom companies, internet service providers, cable TV operators, and water supply agencies to clean up their utility lines or face strict penalties.
The notification reinforces an earlier order (Order No. DCK/REV/MISC-14/ 2025/402 B) issued on November 21, 2025. That initial directive instructed all service providers and concerned agencies to: Remove all redundant, abandoned, and unused overhead cables and pipes; Bundle, sleeve, and securely fasten all active overhead lines according to approved technical standards.
The administration reiterated that these measures are vital for maintaining public safety, improving the city’s aesthetics, and ensuring orderly urban infrastructure.
The District Magistrate has made it clear that no further warnings will be given. Any cables or pipes found non-compliant with the standard technical guidelines will be dismantled and removed by the competent authority.
Furthermore, the entire cost of the removal operation will be recovered directly from the defaulting companies or agencies. All active service providers in Kohima District are directed to comply with the order immediately to avoid service disruptions and financial penalties.
