Hyundai Bayon, an intelligent crossover utility vehicle, was launched on October 30, at its showroom Vuto Hyundai Kohima, introducing a new model featuring advanced driver assistance systems, artificial intelligence-powered voice assistance and a range of comfort and safety technologies.

The launch programme was attended by Methaneilie Jütakhrie as the Guest of Honour, while Seyievinuo Chüzho and Rovi Metha were present as special invitees.

The product presentation was delivered by Keneiselhou Yhoshu, Sales Consultant, who highlighted the Bayon’s design, performance, safety features, technology and interior amenities.

The name Bayon is derived from Bayonne, a city in France, reflecting its vibrant energy, distinctive character and outdoor lifestyle. The naming follows Hyundai’s global strategy of naming its SUVs after prominent geographical locations and travel destinations.

Positioned between the Hyundai Venue and Creta, the Bayon has been introduced as an intelligent utility vehicle designed to combine performance, technology, safety and everyday practicality.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 115 PS and a maximum torque of 143.8 Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

Built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced platform, the Bayon incorporates a range of safety technologies, including more than 35 standard safety features and 80 advanced features, according to the product presentation.

Among its key technological highlights is a segment-first generative AI voice assistant powered by Perplexity and SoundHound. The vehicle also features Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), highway driving assistance technology, 12 parking sensors and three radars.

Additional features include over-the-air software updates covering 19 controllers and more than 70 Bluelink connected-car features.

The rear seating area offers two-step reclining seats, with headroom and legroom designed to provide passenger comfort and ease of entry and exit. The vehicle also offers a ground clearance of 205 mm.

At the rear, the Bayon features signature H-edge tail lamps, a spread-type emblem, a sporty spoiler and an Aerolight high-mounted stop lamp. It also provides a boot capacity of 505 litres, offering ample luggage space.

The Hyundai Bayon is available in seven variants, with a selection of monotone, matte and dual-tone colour options. Monotone colours include Fiery Red, Atlas White, Ecotropic Grey, Golden Bronze, Titanium Black and Classy Blue.
