Gorkha Baptist Church (GBC), Kiphire, Nagaland, celebrated World Sunday School Day cum Graduation Ceremony 2026 with enthusiasm and joy, highlighting the importance of Christian education and the spiritual development of children.
The programme began with an opening prayer led by Grania Sapkota, followed by praise and worship presented by the children. The official programme commenced with Scripture reading led by Prashan Khadka.
The main speaker, Dr Bhim Sapkota, Pastor of Gorkha Baptist Church, Kiphire, delivered a message on the theme, “Let the Children Come to Me!” based on Matthew 19:14.
Drawing from the biblical account in Matthew 19:13–15, the speaker shared an illustrative story about a little boy who longed to meet a king and connected it to Jesus; welcoming attitude towards children. He highlighted five key lessons: children are precious in the eyes of Jesus; they must be brought closer to Him; believers should never become obstacles to their faith; Sunday School plays a vital role in shaping young lives; and children are not merely the future of the Church but an important part of the Church today.
He also urged parents, Sunday School teachers and church members to take collective responsibility for nurturing children in God’s Word, faith and Christian values.
