The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) to reconsider its decision to prohibit Mao citizens from entering Southern Angami areas.

SAPO had made the decision during its General Body Meeting on 8 December as a measure against the dispute that had arisen over land holding within Kezoltsa area.

It decided to impose the ban from 15 December onwards until the case of Kezoltsa and the Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO) is resolved.

In a letter addressed to the president of SAPO, the NSF stated that “while refraining from commenting on the issue leading to the unfortunate announcement” it nevertheless makes a sincere appeal to the Angami organisation to reconsider the ban in consideration of
“the festive season” and “in the interest of the students’ community who will be returning home to join their families for Christmas.”

The student body stated that the appeal comes “in the interest of upholding the unity of the Naga youth and students community.”
