The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the theme ‘Build a Prolific Community’ at Town Hall, Mokokchung on 15 December with Minister Rural Development, Nagaland, Metsubu Jamir, as the special guest.

Delivering his speech during the programme, Jamir said the people from Eastern Nagaland are socially and culturally second to none.

He said the term “backward” can be associated with infrastructural development but not as people because there are many intellects who have immensely contributed to the state.

Mentioning the ENPO demand for Eastern Nagaland State, he said personally and morally he is supportive of the demand because it will create more avenues and opportunities for development which will be a blessing for the future generation.

He also went on to mention his long association with the people of Eastern Nagaland and their contributions towards the development of Mokokchung town.

Highlights of the programme included a solidarity speech from Padma K Asungba Sangtam Former MP; Jubilee Greetings by Tsapikyu Sangtam, president of ENPO and members from Ao Senden; Words from Pioneer by Langshi Khiamniungan, first president of ENPUM.

The Jubilee Message was delivered by Rev Chingmak Chang, Secretary, ECS.

The welcome address was delivered by Y Among Yim, President ENPUM.
