Suspected contraband item seized at NH-2

Kohima: The Narcotic Cell personnel intercepted one vehicle and recovered 50 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 650 grams

The Narcotic Cell PS, PHQ personnel intercepted a vehicle and recovered soap cases containing suspected heroin while conducting a surprise Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at NH-2 on 16 December.

According to a DIPR report, the Narcotic Cell personnel intercepted one vehicle – Mahindra Bolero LX (white colour) bearing Registration No. AS01AV/3793, Chassis No. MAI PL2GHKB5F80657, Engine No. GHBYE5004 – at National Highway-2, Viswema Y Junction between Jakhama and Viswema.

Conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the Narcotic Cell personnel detected and recovered 50 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 650 grams.

Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle, N G Vapou (M) 21 Years, S/o R Ngaoni, V/o Laii village, PO/PS – Tadubi, Dist – Senapati, State – Manipur, was apprehended and the contraband items along with the vehicle were seized.

In this connection, a regular case Vide Narcotic Cell PS C/No. 014/2022 U/S 21 (C)/60 NDPS Act was registered for further investigation.
