The Chiechama Village Amphitheater with a capacity of 3,000 seats was inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today at Chiechama village, Kohima, a DIPR report informed.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said it was a long vision and a much-needed amphitheater, especially with Chiechama being one of the biggest villages in the area which touches the National Highway.

Rio added that it was constructed to promote the rich traditional practices and cultural values of the forefathers and to inherit their blessings.

Highlighting the importance of the construction, he said amphitheaters were used for village meetings, feasts and other social gatherings during the times of the forefathers. He urged the village to protect and maintain the newly constructed amphitheater.

He also informed the government employees to get registered with the Chief Minister Health Insurance to avail the health cards and microfinance schemes for aspiring youths, entrepreneurs and farmers.

The chief minister thanked the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for sanctioning the project. He also thanked the village leaders for their cooperation and congratulated them for the successful completion of the building.

The programme was chaired by the vice president of Chiechama Officers Krotho, Shyien Vihienuo. The dedication prayer was offered by Rev Levi Rio, pastor of CRC Chiechama while the welcome address was delivered by the village council chairman.

Elderly blessings were invoked by Head GB Pukuolie Chadi. A folk song was presented by Chiechamiapfü Mechü Krotho and a group song by CBKK.

A construction report was given by Er Kezhazelhou Theünuo and the vote of thanks was delivered by Neitso Sogotsu (VCM).
