Pungro-based Civil Society Organisations headed by Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) organised the Tsüngkamnyo festival in Pungro Town on 16 January at YTC Sub-treasury.
During the programme, EAC Pungro Hq Yitachu Thurr spoke on self-reliance, the promotion of local and organic products and encouraging and supporting local entrepreneurs. He also spoke on the importance of culture and traditional practices.
Short speeches were delivered by Makhezo, executive chairman YTC, and Resangla Susana, president of the Yimkhiung Women’s Organisation.
The significance of the Tsungkamnyo festival was shared by Yansomong, the Head GB of Pungro Town.
The programme was chaired by Throngkila, president of the YLA Pungro unit, while the welcome address was delivered by Kinan, social and cultural secretary of YTK.
Prayers during the programme were pronounced by Tsuyihba, pastor of Pungro Town Baptist Church, and Chipong, pastor of United Pentecostal Church, Pungro Town.
Hundreds of leaders and well-wishers took part in the festival celebration.
