With the announcement of the schedule for the general election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023 by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Government of India has opened a camp office in Kohima to monitor the use of money-power.

A press release from the Media Cell, CEO Office, Nagaland on Monday informed that the mandate for curbing the use of money-power and various forms of inducements in elections have been vested with several enforcement agencies both at the central and state-level.

They shall keep a close watch on money laundering activities for holding a free and fair election and these activities will be closely monitored from their sub-zonal office in Guwahati.

“If any instance of money laundering related to politically exposed persons, connected with political activities directly or indirectly comes to light, coordinated action shall be taken so that money proceeds of crime connected with a scheduled offence do not get into political financing,” it stated.

The public can also register a complaint if anyone is found in the aforementioned electoral malpractices to the control room at Camp Office, Kohima on the contact number 8837470460.
