Muthingnyuba Sangtam, NDPP MLA from 52 Longkhim-Chare A/C and Toyang Chang, NDPP MLA from 53-Tuensang Sadar-I (ST) A/C, resigned from the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on 31 January 2023.
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Secretariat notified that the Speaker of the House had accepted the resignations under Article 190 clause 3 (b) of the Indian Constitution read with Rule 180 Clause (1) (2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Consequent to their resignations, the speaker has declared the seats mentioned against their names as vacant.
Muthingnyuba Sangtam and Toyang Chang had joined Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party only last year in the month of April. They were earlier members of the Naga People’s Front Party.
