With Nagaland polling in a few weeks’ time, the progressive seizures made by the various enforcement agencies, both central and state, from the date of poll announcement till 3 February is Rs 28,96,37,474.
This was informed in a press release by the Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday. The details of the seizures include Rs. 2,45,25,350 in cash, 40925 litres of IMFL worth Rs. 3,02,02,492, 3.06 kg of drugs/narcotics worth Rs. 21,77,17,800, other contraband worth Rs. 28,96,37,474 and freebies/other items worth Rs. 1,71,91,832.
Meanwhile, the SP (SCRB) and PRO PHQ, informed that in compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, the Nagaland Police has been conducting raids and searches and made seizures of IMFL all across the state.
After obtaining permission from the court for pre-trial destruction, the police have destroyed 3,068 litres and 7,843 seized IMFL in the presence of the magistrates, dobashis and others.
Of the total quantity of IMFL destroyed, 7,843 IMFL were from CP Dimapur; 2,494 litres from Mokokchung DEF and 339 litres from Longleng DEF.
