BJP candidate from Southern Angami-II Assembly Constituency for the upcoming state assembly election, Er. Kropol Vitsu expressed concern and asserted that he will take up the ongoing Kezoltsa border dispute between the Southern Angami people and the Moa Council in Manipur as one of his first priorities if elected to the 14th house.
Speaking exclusively to Nagaland Tribune at his residence in Kohima, Vitsu stated that both parties are equally suffering because of the land dispute, adding that although this issue does not have much to do with the state governments, he wished to bring the issue in the “eye” of both the state governments so that they can also sit across the table and peacefully resolve the issue at their earliest.
According to him, the issue should be resolved peacefully as per customary practices, however, the Southern Angami people are also delaying the matter at their own level, he added.
On the Indo-Naga political issue, Vitsu categorically stated that only Prime Minister Modi’s government can deliver a solution to the Naga political issue and that ‘BJP is the only party genuinely concerned and seriously pursuing the issue to resolve it’.
“I do not trust any other political parties. Only Prime Minister Modi and his colleagues, particularly BJP authorities, are really concerned and have a genuine concern for Nagas,” stated Vitsu.
He also stated that the 2018 election slogan “Election for solution” could not be achieved because of disagreements between the Naga negotiating parties and exuded confidence that during the BJP’s regime, the issue will be resolved.
Stating that peace and development in Nagaland is only through PM Modi and his government, he said ‘Nagas have to be very grateful to Modi for bringing peace and development in the state which Nagas only used to dream about’.
Recalling the congress regime days, he said Congress gave a policy calling it “Look East Policy” but it did not materialise and when Modi came to power in 2014, he changed that very policy’s name to “Look east policy to act east policy” and the reality is happening now.
Road developments apart from small schemes, developmental activities, the railway line from Dimapur to Kohima, all these are happening because the BJP, whatever they commit, they go by that, said Vitsu.
In conclusion, he said he is confident of winning comfortably if his overwhelming supporters continue to support him till the polling day.
