Mughai Swu, a youth from Zunheboto district, says that the tradition of electing representatives in Nagaland has always been based on money, false pretences, rhetoric speech and patronage of nepotism rather than voting a capable intending candidate. The young man further opines that whoever is elected becomes despotic rulers.
But, he adds, the populace with such mindset is disintegrating in today’s society as people are more conscious and aware of who to choose and elect as our leaders.

Today, people are more conscious and aware of who to choose and elect as our leaders: Mughai Swu.
Mentioning that Nagaland is now regarded as one of the worst performing states in India on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as reported and published by Niti Ayog, he says that this must awaken the hearts and minds of every concerning citizen across Nagaland.
Stressing on the acute need of the people to raise questions, Mughai Swu expresses that the responsibility to ask questions lies with each voter and not the candidate or the MLA, and that only when the citizens begin to question, they can choose the leaders sagaciously.
