I represent 57 Thonoknyu A/C, not political party: MLA Benei Lamthiu at thanksgiving programme

Thanksgiving programme for Member of Legislative Assembly, Benei M Lamthiu was held on Tuesday at Thonoknyu Town in Noklak district. At the event, Lamthiu, who won his first election from National People’s Party (NPP), proclaimed that with the conclusion of the programme, he will only represent his constituency and not the political party.

“I’m not going to represent NPP now, I’m going to represent Thonoknyu 57th Assembly Constituency,” the MLA said.

He also advised the gathering not to carry any political colours and strongly called for unity and peace in the land. Lamthiu asserted that the word “ism” will not exist in his dictionary.

Stating that winning the election was just the beginning, he said the true taste of leadership and character begins now. He urged the leaders to continue to uphold humility and further requested the elders to guide him. The MLA also expressed his special thanks and appreciation to the youths, whom he addressed as the future of tomorrow, for believing in his leadership.

Later, MLA Lamthiu made an inspection to the Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Thonoknyu HQ which is in a pitiful condition. He also found out that there is no official quarter for Officer in Charge at Thonoknyu.

During his visit to the Thonoknyu Police Station, it was discovered that there was accute shortage of men power. Only 13 sepoys are stationed.

Lamthiu also visited the Primary Health Care (PHC) where he found that the PHC face shortage of healthcare workers. Thonokyu has only one doctor and two staff nurses. The PHC also lacks water supply, proper connectivity, lab technician and no regular ambulance driver.

The MLA said that the issues and concerns of 57 A/C will be approached one at a time after meeting the Chief Minister, advisors and the concerned departments.
