The two-day 35th General Conference of Nyiro Range Students Union, Wokha district concluded on Saturday at Government Middle School, Nyiro, Wokha with Yanthungo Patton, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home and Border Affairs Government of Nagaland as the special guest.

In his speech, Patton encouraged all the students to focus on studies and to give competitive exams like NPSC, NSSB with zeal to achieve something through hard work. He further said that he would be glad to sponsor hard-working student who wants to study but cannot afford to.

The Deputy CM also spoke about the importance of the local dialect and urged the students to real Lotha literature.

He stated, ‘Student must be aware of the power they hold and come forward together to bring changes and take right decision for the society’.

Limasunep, IPS, IGP (Range) highlighted about the rise in drug use among the youths. He said that the police department, under the guidance and leadership of Deputy Chief Minister, is doing its best to tackle this pressing issue.

In order to spread awareness in the youths, Jamir mentioned some actions taken in the last two months in its ‘War on Drugs’. He said that the police have zero tolerance against drugs, users of drugs, peddlers of drugs and suppliers of drugs and that over 180 people have been arrested.

Jamir encouraged the students avoid such things and be of help to the society by creating awareness among the people around them.

Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, SP Wokha, and Lironthung E. Kithan, President Lotha Students ‘ Union also attended the Nyiro Range Students Union conference on Saturday.

The conference was held under the theme ‘Revamp with a New Vision’.
