The National Socialist Council of Nagalim – Isak and Muiva (NSCN-IM) has said in a statement that the destruction of the Naga Club building was an ‘insult of highest degree not only to NSF, the apex body of Naga students units spread across Nagalim but also to the identity of Naga freedom movement.’ It stated that the heritage building has been standing as a ‘historical memory’ to reminds us of our national identity when the Naga political movement for freedom started.
The Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) condemned the hate and fear that motivated the demolition and vandalism of the Naga Club Building. This destruction in the midst of controversy and the random destruction of historical records of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is irreplaceable, KVYO stated.
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) condemned the vandalization of the offices of NSF and the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and stated that it was ‘an appalling assault on these esteemed institutions and an affront to the principles they represent which is uncalled for.’ The federation further said that the act was a blatant insult on the aspirations and struggles of the students’ community in particular and the Naga society as a whole and called on the authorities conduct a swift and thorough investigation and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the despicable act and book them under the relevant sections of the law.
The Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) or Maram Students Union said the destruction of the NSF office was a cowardly and unbecoming act in this day and age and against the Naga customary tradition. It also urged NSF urged to settle the differences with peaceful dialogue and look for an amicable solution in every situation.
The Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) stated that the act was against the very principle of humanity and the aspirations of the Naga people in particular and appealed to the law-enforcing agencies to promptly initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the perpetrators.
The Thiimziih Teen Bujuur Ruwrkheh (TTBR) or Moyon Naga Students’ Union, while expressing its concern stated that such brazen act of disrespect and disregard is truly disturbing. The unwarranted act of vandalization undermines the invaluable efforts and contributions of the NSF, it said. TTBR also called for a thorough investigation.
The Sirti Thimjitam Sourkhe (STS) or Monsang Naga Students’ Union denounced the action of anti-Naga elements who dismantled the Naga Club Building. Such irrational act is an open agenda to destroy the unified Naga spirit, it said. STS also urged concern authorities to take necessary action against the anti-Naga elements at the earliest.
The Naga Students’ Union Guwahati (NSUG) said that vandalising the apex students federation office is the highest insult to the student community and a direct challenge to the whole student fraternity at large. NSUG reiterated the demand of NSF and appealed to the law enforcement agency to expedite the investigation and arrest all those involved and responsible and deliver justice to the student’s community.
