Students across Nagaland participate in various Earth-friendly activities on World Environment Day

Students around Nagaland on Monday participated in the biggest movement to spread awareness about the chocking planet Earth and the need to act now to save it. On World Environment Day 2023, they walked, they planted, they painted, picked wastes, scrubbed, broomed and distributed eco-friendly products and hopefully learned a great deal that they can pass on to their families.

Government Primary School for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), Lerie, Kohima

Around 150 persons including students, teachers and community observed World Environment Day under the theme ‘One Earth – One Family – One Future’ today in the school premise where various activities were organized which included cleaning the school compound, planting trees and re-cycling plastics.

Earlier, during the Morning Assembly, the teachers and Students took pledge in English and Hindi.

GPS for CWSN, Lerie, Kohima

The school extended gratefulness to Social Forestry Division, Nagaland for providing tree saplings to the school for tree plantation under the Theme ‘Life, Lifestyle for Environment’.

Hojoho Mekro, Vice Chairman Lerie Panchayat and Moa Tzudir, Member SMC led the activities in planting saplings and cleaning plastics waste in and around the school compound.

Plantation Drive at Tetso College, Dimapur

Nature Club in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, and Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Nagaland and Save the Trees, Nagaland organised a mass plantation drive at Tetso new campus near ICFAI University, where over 500 saplings were planted by students and faculty from various departments.

Students of Eden Academy, Mokokchung collect 50 Kg plastic on WED 2023

Students took part in plogging and plastic collection activities to highlight the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle on World Environment Day 2023. The school collected a total of 50 Kilograms of plastic during these activities.

Students took part in a walkathon under the scorching heat of the sun on World Environment Day 2023 under the G20 India theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.

The students handed out paper bags in an around the shops at Tuensang to encourage shopkeepers and consumers to use paper bags instead of plastic bags, based on the WED 2023 theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution”. The students also took part in plogging.

A short program was conducted inside the school premise for the teachers, staffs and students on the theme ‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution’ where the Headmistress stressed on the harmful effects of the Plastic on the environment which is threatening the very existence of life on earth. The members were sensitized on the importance of acting now to protect the environment.

A pledge was taken by all the members that starting from today they will not use plastics and also encourage families, friends and neighbours to do the same.

Later, after the program a cleanliness drive was conducted around the school premise, the students and teachers also were involved in cleaning up the small stream bordering the school premise which has been filled with plastic wastes.

Students took part in a social work from Bayavü Gate-Census Compound-School premises under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.  33 students from the school participated in the Kohima district administration Walkathon and program under Zübzüb while 10 students participated in SoCRAN Focus painting competition on WED 2023 theme where Mishini, class 6, won 2nd position while Lavinuo and Ramkiula of Class 7 were awarded consolation prizes.

At the program held in the school, Neiphrelie Metha, President, Bayavü Youth Organisation exhorted the students with a message on protecting and preserving environment. Those present took the pledge on MISSION LiFE (Meri Life- Lifestyle for Environment).

Students performed a choir song at Heritage today on World Environment Day programme. The School Choir have recently participated even in the Kohima Smart City Foundation Day at Capital Cultural Hall this year.
