Governor La Ganesan says he endeavours every district in Nagaland to have basic infrastructures

Wokha: Wokha CSOs submit memorandum to Governor regarding Wokha-Bokajan road

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan visited Wokha district and held meeting with head offices of the district and Civil Society Organizations at the Deputy Commissioner’s residence on Thursday.

Addressing the meeting the Governor La Ganesan, said that he endeavours every district in Nagaland to have four basic infrastructures namely education, adequate health care, good roads and adequate banking facilities.

On elementary education, the Governor said it is a constitutional right where along with this right, quality education must be ensured. In this regard he mentioned that through flagship programmes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Project Nectar (funded by the World Bank), the Government has provided better school infrastructure and have appointed teachers and posted them to schools with insufficient Teachers. “Programmes and initiatives of the Government like providing free textbooks, mid-day meals and free elementary education have re-defined the role of the state in the educational system, Ganesan added.

The Governor said quality health care services in the district should be the ultimate goal. He said that today, so many government healths related schemes are in operation including Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yoiana and our state’s own CM Health Insurance Scheme.

Ganesan urged the departments to take these government schemes to the doorsteps of the citizens so that everyone is benefited.

He also impressed upon everyone the need to be good model citizens for the state as well as for the country. “As good citizens, we have to be law abiding and also co-operate and work hand in hand with government- both at the centre and in the state. We have to reaffirm our commitment to the democratic values and ideals enshrined in our constitution. We have to work harder in our march towards a united, strong and prosperous nation,” the Governor added. During the meeting the Wokha Civil Societies Organization headed by the Lotha Hoho and eleven other organization submitted memorandum on behalf of Lotha community.

The memorandum requested the Governor for either handing over of the Wokha-Bokajan road to Border Roads Organization (BRO) or to sanction for taking up the road construction project. Where the Governor assured to take up the matter to the concerned ministry on priority to ensure that it is implemented. Department of Health & Family Welfare, PHED, Lead Bank District Manager, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, NEEPCO, PWD (R&B) presented their departmental activities undertaken in the district to the Governor.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS).
