Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C IAS, the Kohima District Task Force for Immunization conducted a meeting to discuss various initiatives, including Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI), MR Elimination Drive, Routine Immunization (RI), and National Deworming Day. The meeting took place on August 3, 2023, at the DC’s Conference Hall in Kohima.
Dr. Sheila from WHO delivered a comprehensive overview of IMI 5.0 during the meeting, highlighting its rationale and strategies. The focus was on addressing vaccination coverage disparities in rural areas and overcoming communication challenges. The meeting also emphasized the collaborative efforts required between departments to eliminate Measle Rubella (MR) by December 2023.
Updates on the MR Elimination Drive, Routine Immunization, and National Deworming Day were provided by DPO (RCH/UIP) Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro. The meeting underscored the importance of involving educational and social welfare departments in raising awareness.

IMI 5.0 aims to target under-vaccinated children and pregnant women through multiple sessions from August to October, with flexible timing to ensure maximum coverage. Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C IAS suggested incorporating a representative from the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) into the District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) to enhance outreach efforts. He stressed the need for close coordination and regular reviews to ensure the success of the MR Elimination Drive.
