The new look of Nagaland Emporium in Capital New Delhi was unveiled on Thursday, fulfilling the commitment of the government to complete the project within the deadline of 60 days. Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology of India, Rajeev Chandrasekhar was the chief guest of the inaugural event. Advisor to Chief Minister and IDAN Chairman Abu Metha, and Advisor of Industries & Commerce and MLA Hekani Jakhalu, who are credited for the success of the task, were present at Connaught Place on the occasion.
The event marks a significant milestone for the state economic landscape underscoring Nagaland’s remarkable micro-entrepreneurial capabilities in traditional arts and handicrafts.

The Investments & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) extended it gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his visionary leadership in making the project a reality while also acknowledging the contributions of Advisor Hekani and its Chairman Abu Metha.
“The Nagaland Emporium is not merely a retail space; it stands as an ambassador for Nagaland and its people, exemplifying the Naga Way of Life and inviting global interest in our Land of Festivals,” it stated.
The authority also said, “This initiative aligns with our commitment to collaborate with micro-entrepreneurs in every district of Nagaland, facilitating their access to broader markets. It marks a significant step towards elevating Nagaland to a State of Excellence.
We believe in the potential of our creators, manufacturers, and artisans at the grassroots level as the true benefactors of this endeavour. Nagaland’s economic future is filled with promise, and we look forward to realizing its full potential.”

He added that the emporium will act as “an ambassador of Nagaland and the Naga people. It will reflect the Naga Way of Life and exemplify our Naganess to the global community. Our aim is that every visitor who steps into this unique space must get inspired to learn more about Nagaland and get interested to visit the Land of Festivals; & every Naga who visits must feel proud to be a Naga.”

Advisor of Industries & Commerce, Govt of Nagaland MLA, Hekani Jakhalu, thanking the CM Rio and Union Minister Chandrasekhar, “Dreams do come true 💫. Always wanted to show case ‘Made in Nagaland /NE’ in the capital with pride & style .”
BJP National Spokesperson and former Advisor, Mmhonlumo Kikon also posted on X where lauded the ‘dream team’ of Metha and Hekani, spearheaded by CM Rio for “utilising the brilliance and genius of our very own Aku Zeliang” in giving the Nagaland Emporium Delhi a face-lift.
Kikon wrote, “The decor compliments the products- the products being the genius of our ancestors now handed to our generations as crafts. We inherited a beautiful body of knowledge and while it can be a huge source of inspiration and income as well, the platforms being developed to showcase the rich heritage require the same amount of care and ambience.”
“This is the way forward! Investing in our culture and promoting it in the best way possible at the best locations in the world to activate revenue generations for all the indigenous weavers and artisans!” he added.
