Nagaland is all gearing up to organise the festival of festivals ‘Hornbill Festival’. The 24th edition of the Hornbill festival is slated for 1-10 December at the Naga Heritage village, Kisama.
The Tourism department led by its Minister Temjen Imna Along held a consultative meeting on Friday with all its line departments, Associations and groups here at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.
The meeting discussed and deliberated on various issues related to Hornbill festival.

Minister Temjen Imna Along in his concluding remarks underlined that Hornbill Festival has brought tremendous changes in the state particularly on the way the world and Northeast looks at Nagaland.
He also said Mini Hornbill Festivals are very important to build Tourism in Nagaland.
Along during the meeting also suggested that all line departments, associations and groups should run campaigns of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. “People still don’t have much civic sense. Tourism cannot grow if tourism places are not clean,” he said.
Responding to a concern raised by the hotel association with regard to people cancelling their bookings, due to geographical ignorance with Nagaland and Manipur, the Minister said “Nagaland is separate from Manipur these are two different states. Manipur ethnic issues we regret, we pray that peace will come as soon as possible. Manipur also had a great festival in the name of Sangai Festival and due all these issues that are going on, tourists are unaware that Nagaland and Manipur are different. In due course of time tourists will come to know.”
The Minister also informed that this year the Chief Minister has allocated grant in aid to the department to help facilitate the stakeholders of tourism.
