The Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar has filled a petition seeking the disqualification of seven NCP members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly for “anti-party activities”. The lawmakers had declared support for the Ajit Pawar faction of the party on 20th July 2023 following the split.
The party suffered a major blow on 2nd July 2023 when Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar joined the Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra. The same day he was made the Deputy Chief Minister of the State and eight NCP MLAs were sworn in as ministers in the government.
