Preliminary analysis conducted on poor quality of boots supplied to Nagaland Police: DGP

Kohima: DGP appeals police personnels to take up grievances with concern authority and not to the media

Following a viral video showing poor quality of boots supplied to the Nagaland Police causing much criticism, the Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma informed on Wednesday that preliminary analysis has been conducted with regard to the boots.

Taking note of the video, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton who is also incharge of Home Department had directed the DGP Rupin Sharma to verify the authenticity of the video and initiate an inquiry into the matter.

“We are yet to ascertain the identity of the person who has uploaded the video,” said Sharma. Mentioning that the supply of uniforms and rations is a continuous process based on requirements, Sharma stated that the shoes supplied “could be an old stock issued to someone either deliberately or by oversight.”

Further, the Unit Commanders have been directed not to supply any perishable items from the old stock.

“The latest supplies of shoes received this year was cleared by the Line committee and the quality is not in question,” asserted Sharma

The composition of line committees where the quality and quantity of supplies are checked in PHQ and Unit level, according to the DGP who also assured that line committees will be expanded in both levels in order to improve things and avoid confusion.

Further, Sharma appealed to the police personnels to bring their grievances to the concern authority and not to go to the media.
