NAC announces dates for 9th Horsepower Challenge

Kohima: Late registration to be extended till 11th Oct with fee of Rs 6000

The Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) is all set to organise the 9th edition of Horsepower Challenge from 12th-14th October 2023 at Agri Expo Dimapur. This was announced at a press conference on Thursday at a hotel in Kohima.

Burakum, NAC President informed that there will be four categories under Autocross (Four wheeler) namely, SUV, Open, Stock and Rookie. A special ‘Ladies Category’ will also be held where three have already confirmed their participation. “For the first time, the event will also witness autorickshaw rally on the last day,” said Burakum.

Informing that scrutiny of vehicles and spot registration will be held on 12th October and the main event to be held from 13th-14th October, the president also mentioned that the 9th Horsepower Challenge will be expecting more than 70 participants this year from across the Northeast.

“The NAC will be organising the Mahindra Great Escape in collaboration with Hornbill festival this year in December. The Government of Nagaland has given the green signal for another round of Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) which likely to be held in the early part of January 2024,” announced Burakum.

The title sponsors for this year’s Horsepower Challenge are Nexa Gemini, Seyie Auto and Progressive Motors.

The last date of registration is slated on 9th October however late registration will be extended till the 11th with a registration fee of Rs 6000, NAC informed. Further, the spot registration can be done with a fee of Rs 7000 on 12th October.

In the SUV category, the champion will receive an amount of Rs 35,000, Rs 25,000 for 1st runner up and Rs 15,000 for the 2nd runner up.

In the Open category, the champion will receive an amount of Rs 60,000, while the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will receive Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

For Stock and Rookie category, the champions will receive Rs 30,000. The 1st and 2nd runner up will receive Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
