The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has condemned the statement of Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher Education & Tourism for his ‘disparaging words’ while mentioning CNTC during his speech at National Youth Peace Convention held at Chümoukedima on 1st October.

“It is very unfortunate that the Minister chose to mock his own family while calling for Naga unity. This is unbecoming of a person holding an elected position who seems to have conveniently forgotten his roots of existence,” stated the letter issued by the CNTC’s Media Cell.

While addressing the gathering at the National Youth Peace Convention on 1st October, Minister Imna Along had discussed at length on the growing disunity among Nagas. The Minister had expressed that to understand peace, one has to understand the chaos we have created. He further went on to state, “ENPO going somewhere, Tenyimia going somewhere. And CNTC don’t know from where it has come.”

Following these comments, the CNTC in its statement has warned of reaching out to elected leaders to refresh their memories. “For those elected leaders feigning ignorance about CNTC formation and existence despite having attended meetings called by CNTC, we will be reaching out to refresh the memories in order to grow together as family and work towards unity of the Naga society as desired by every right thinking people,” affirmed the CNTC.

In his speech, Minister Imna Along had also mentioned that his statements were not uttered out of audacity but rather about ‘spelling the truth’.
