At the ongoing 26th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023, the team events concluded on Wednesday evening at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung.
In the women’s team event, Kohima reaffirmed their championship status by clinching victory in the final match with a dominant performance, defeating Niuland in straight sets, 3-0. The women’s category boasted five teams: Kohima, Niuland, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Dimapur. Throughout the course of the competition, which followed a super league format, a grand total of 25 matches took place, culminating in the intense final showdown.

Mon claimed victory in the Men’s team event, emerging as champions in a thrilling final showdown against Kohima. They secured their title with a 3-2 win in a best-of-five match format. The competition involved a total of 96 matches, featuring 14 teams. Mon displayed their skills by outperforming the defending champions, Chümoukedima, in the semifinals. Kohima also showed their mettle by defeating Phek to earn their place in the highly-anticipated finals.
The 14 teams that participated in this year’s championship include Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Kiphire, Phek, Tuensang, Shamator, Zunheboto, Wokha, Kohima, Dimapur, Niuland, Tseminyu, and Chümoukedima.

The 26th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023, hosted by the Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association (MDTTA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA), is set to conclude on Thursday, October 26, with Col. Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant, 12 Assam Rifles, as the Valedictory Patron.
