Paiwang visits DH Mon, assures to extend DH requirements

Amidst the dengue outbreak in Mon district, P. Paiwang Konyak, Minister Health and Family Welfare, visited the District Hospital Mon, on Sunday, informed the Press Secretary to the Minister of Health and Family Welfare.

The visit was the second official visit of the Minister since the outbreak of dengue in Mon district.

On Sunday, the Minister inspected the hospital, interacted with the patients and attendants which was followed by a closed-door meeting with the Medical Officers and nurses of the district hospital.

Dr. Thomas Keppen, Deputy CMO Mon who is currently heading the DH briefed the Minister on the ground reality of the dengue crisis and sought additional manpower including nurses. In response, the Konyak appreciated the doctors and nurses of the DH Mon, for their umpteen effort to control the dengue crisis and managed to subside the rise in recent times. As pointed out on the need for additional manpower, Paiwang assured to extend the same at the soonest possible time.

The Minister assured to provide a “Printer” for the Complete Blood Count (CBC) 5 Chamber which he had previously donated. Paiwang suggested the district hospital authorities to segregate the dengue patients and other general patients whereby accurate procedure of treatment can be carried out.

Further, the minister stressed on the need for community participation in the fight to control the rise of dengue in the district. He pointed out that the administration, civil societies and health department can act as “Three Wings” to control dengue rise in the community especially in Mon district.

The minister acknowledged the Mon district legislators, KBBB, certain individuals and all those who generously donated cash and kind to the district hospital. During the Sunday visit, the Minister also donated an amount of two lakhs to the district hospital for emergency fund.
