A team of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) visited Longleng where they visited various Institutions such as District Hospitals, District Jail, Women Police Station, and One Stop Centres (OSCs) from November 9 to 10.
In a post on X, the NSCW informed that the Chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak along with members Kekhrienuo Meyase, Akokla Longchar and Legal Consultant, Apila Sangtam visited the district to assess the liveability, safety, and protection of women inmates and had a short interaction with them, besides holding meetings with the Superintendent of Police, and Phomla Hoichem (Women Hoho).
The team along with Phomla Hoichem members and EAC Sadar visited the District Hospital and interacted with the medical officers and nurses and took a tour of the hospital wards. The team also visited the Women Police Station and Sakhi- One Stop Centre at Longleng. According to DIPR, the visit discussed on various challenges faced by the institutions with regard to women welfare and protection of their rights and the need of various mechanisms to address the issue of women affected by violence and substance abuse.

Konyak emphasised the need to create more awareness on various issues such as cybercrime, domestic violence and providing a safe medium for afflicted women. She also encouraged Phomla Hoichem to continue to play an active role in collaboration with the District Administration, Police and other line departments to promote and protect women welfare and empowerment.
The team also visited and interacted with officials and female inmates at District Jail, Longleng. Konyak reiterated the need to strengthen rehabilitation services and emphasised the importance of the role of district administration, police, and Phomla Hoichem and their collective efforts to tackle the menace of substance abuse in the district. The Commission also paid a courtesy visit to the SP office, Longleng.
